I was re-reading a blog today, the blog of a dear woman who struggled horrifically with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. I found her blog a few years back and this is the second time I've gone and read it from the beginning. She has an amazingly witty writing style, and says some of the funniest things I have ever read on a blog, even though her story is one of the saddest I have ever read (and I have quite the long IF blogroll). She's endearing and honest. She's British, and I happen to adore the accent and phrases used by the Brits. Not to mention that while reading them I have a strong likelihood of thinking in a British accent.
I loved reading her blog. And then something really terrible happened. Something she couldn't truly talk about. For a few months, she talked about it, while not really talking about it. I didn't mind, glad she was still writing at all, glad that maybe her many readers could bring her some small measure of comfort, ever hopeful for the day when things would start to turn around.
And then, about six months ago. She stopped writing, full stop (see, I use British phrases when I've been reading her). No announcement that she would be stopping, no farewell. Just radio silence.
And of course, that's her right. Perhaps it all got to painful to put into words. Perhaps the pressure of not sharing was too much. Perhaps she started a new blog, for more anonymity. She did not use her real name. I tried poking around the blogs of a few of her followers, but didn't have any luck finding comments from her, in the hopes of finding a new blog of hers to follow for updates. I tweeted her, but there was no response and no activity on her profile in as many months.
I've thought of her many times since her blog when dark. Obviously, I don't know her personally, I doubt she'd even remember any of my comments on her blog specifically. She has oodles of readers and I doubt I ever said anything of note on her posts. I did nominate her for a blog award once, and she commented back thanking me, telling me that my answers were interesting and sweet. I guess I'm not sure why I can't let go, not knowing what became of her. It was a terribly dark time for her at the end, and it was preceded by several really dark years, really unfair.
I guess I probably have a whole slew of blogs on my reader that haven't been updated. Some said goodbyes, some merely drifted away, but none has affected me as much as this one blog. I like to think that she'll pop back in someday with an update, but the truth is, she very well may have closed that chapter of her life. And I couldn't blame her for that. But I'll always wonder.
So I guess I'll just continue sending my best wishes to her, out into the void, and hope that someday her life will be as full of light and good humor and all the good things that she deserves. May, this humble blogger really misses you.
This is my blog (obviously). I've been writing here on and off for years. It chronicles my life from a young married woman, to a first time mom, through my struggles with infertility to conceive my second child and beyond.

Sunshine Award! Yes, again!
Even though I have gotten it before, Stasy at Dancing My Way Through Life, Loss and Books nominated me again for the Sunshine Award! I've been reading Stasy's blog for a few years now and have followed along through the birth of her sweet rainbow baby GT. Thanks Stasy!
The Sunshine Award is given to those bloggers who brighten your day. Here's how it works:
- Include the Sunshine Award icon in your post.
- Link to the person who nominated you.
- Answer ten questions about yourself.
- Nominate ten bloggers to receive the award.
- Link your nominees and let them know they've been nominated.
Stacy's questions:
- If you could have any super/magical power, what would it be? I think I'd like to be telekenetic, that seems like a cool power. Though it might encourage me to be too lazy!
- What is your worst vice? I don't tend to be the most patient person in the world.
- What is your favorite thing about yourself? I think I'm a very dependable person. There isn't much I wouldn't do for a friend or family member in need.
- What is your favorite book? Oh that's hard. I guess I'd say the Hunger Games Trilogy.
- If you had to choose between losing your cell phone or losing your car (with no way to replace either), which would you choose? Oh lord I would hate either one. I guess I'll be sensible, I can't work if I don't have a car. But my kindle and I would probably get super close if I didn't have my cell phone.
- What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Mint Chocolate Chip!
- M/F/K the guys from Friends: Ross, Chandler, and Joey. LOL I had to look up what M/F/K meant, I guess I'm getting old! I didn't watch a ton of Friends either...but I think I'd marry Ross, he seems my type (sweet teddy bear, funny). The other two are tougher. Joey is cute but annoying and honestly I don't remember that much about Chandler. I think Joey would annoy me too much, so I guess he dies. LOL
- If you had to choose between chocolate and alcohol (wine/beer/liquor) for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Chocolate, not even a close one. I don't drink very much so I could totally live without it.
- What is your favorite thing about your significant other? His sense of humor. He has a very infectious laugh too!
- Why did you start blogging? Oh gosh....well, Twin was actively blogging at the time and I wanted a chance to be funny like her and I guess I've always wanted people to read my writing, so until I come up with an ideal for a novel that wouldn't suck, I guess this filled the void. Over time, it's become a place for me to express my thoughts and worries. It went from random and a little shallow to a place to document my first few years as a mom, then document my struggle with infertility and onto being a second time mom. Now it's a place to continue to store memories with my kids, as well as my fitness journey and beyond. I don't have a lot of readers, but I decided that as long as it feels good to me to write here, I'll keep doing so even if no one reads!
My nominees:
I've already nominated a list HERE, so if you were nominated by me back then and didn't have a chance to post, here's your second chance! In addition, I'll add a few of my more recent bloggy friends.
- Laura at The Adventures of an Infertile Myrtle
- Aislinn at Baby Makin'
- Jay at The 2 Week Wait
- Amber at Old Lady No Baby
- Teresa at Not Pregnant and PISSED!
- Aly at Me vs Infertility
My Questions
1. What is your greatest accomplishment?
2. What was the last dream you had about?
3. Do you have any interesting quirks?
4. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
5. If you could have any career (including SAHM), what would it be (talent/education not a factor)?
6. You can go back in time and change one event in history--your own, the worlds, whatever--What would you change and why?
7. What is your favorite sound and why?
8. Tell me a secret!
9. What is your biggest fear?
10. What is your favorite way to de-stress?

Pay it Forward For Brinly and Jude
Okay, I know I don't have a lot of followers, but if one other person decides to do this, it's worth the time, so here goes.
On Saturday, March 15th (this Saturday) I will perform a random act of kindness in honor of Brinley and Jude, twin babies of Holly and Darren from the blog Oh Baby, Baby. I am sad to say I only became aware of Holly's blog during the devastating loss of her beloved twins, due to PPROM (premature rupture of the membranes) and incompetent cervix. Holly and Darren had been through three IVFs (an early miscarriage, a failed cycle, and finally a triplet pregnancy, though the third baby was lost at 9 weeks). Holly's water broke at 17 weeks and she delivered her daughter Brinley days later. They did everything they could to continue the pregnancy with her son Jude, but due to an infection in the placenta, she delivered him at 21 weeks. No woman should ever have to face what Holly has. In response to the many "How can we help?" and "What can we do?" questions she and her husband have received, they've decided to organize this event to honor their babies.
It's pretty straightforward. On Saturday, perform a random act of kindness. It can be anything. Holly gives some suggestions here. Then, post a comment or send her an email (shown on this post), letting her know what you did to honor her children. Take pictures if you can, I know she'll treasure them.
And please, if you feel like it, pass this on.

Whew! Well hi, 2014!
Oh my goodness, I always forget how insane December can get! I'm glad it's over, but I'm actually having a hard time adjusting to not being so busy! I still want to do my ornament post, but I haven't had any luck getting good pics. My cell phone flashes too much. We'll see if I get it done before we take down the tree!
Still going strong on the fitness front--I placed second in the challenge at work, with a total of 13% lost--the winner lost 14%, so close! I'll get $100, so that's good. I've been doing Jillian's Shred It With Weights, which is a kettlebell workout--super intense! Next up is abs, I feel the burn already!
Christmas was very nice. AJ still doesn't totally "get" it, but Tyler had a ton of fun. I'm loving my kindle fire (thanks babe!) and my mom likes hers too. New Years was quiet and uneventful, aside from Tyler being a little bit sicky.
And so! Another year gone! Last year was...well it was! Nothing horrifically awful, nothing amazingly life changing! So here's my yearly survey thingy!
YEARLY SURVEY!
1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before? I visited the West Coast, California! It was AWESOME!
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't know that I "resolved" anything, but I finally FINALLY made some major progress on losing weight and getting healthy. I'm inching toward 40 lbs lost and I LOVE IT!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My friend Pam had her first baby girl in April!
4. Did anyone close to you die? Adam's Grandpa passed away just a few weeks ago.
5. What countries did you visit? Still no progress on that one.
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you didn’t have in 2013? I would like to be able to buy a bigger house that suits my growing family better!--That was last years answer, but it REALLY needs to happen this year!
7. What dates from 2013 will be etched upon your memory, and why? Nothing really jumps out this year. I'm okay with that though, we'll call it a rebuilding year
8. What was your biggest achievement of this year? Has to be getting healthier, dropping over 35 lbs and at least two pants sizes!
9. What was your biggest failure? I'd like to think I didn't have any major failures!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope, stayed pretty healthy this year.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Well we bought two "new" cars this year and I am really hoping they go on to be reliable long time vehicles for us!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? AJ's milestones--it's so fun to watch them do things for the first time!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Nothing is immediately coming to mind. I'm sure there were news stories that got to me though.
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills, cars, kids
15. What did you get really excited about? California and each pound that I lost!
16. What song will always remind you of 2013? Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus. She annoys the pants off of me and that video is needlessly raunchy, but I like the song, damn it.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? Happier, THINNER (YAY!), and about the same I guess
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? House projects!
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? I can't really think of anything
20. How did you spend Christmas? We stayed at home and enjoyed ourselves immensely!
21. Did you fall in love in 2013? More and more with my kids and hubby every day
22. What was your favorite TV program? Still gotta be the Big Bang Theory!
23. What was the best book you read? A tie between "Single Infertile Female" and "Hyperbole and a Half" both written by bloggers I adore.
24. What was your greatest musical discovery? I'm sort of in love with Pink!
25. What did you want and get? Healthier!
26. What did you want and not get? A promotion and a house
27. What was your favorite film of 2013? Catching Fire!
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 31! I think we were all just getting over being sick and I was super busy at work, but I'm sure we had dinner and cake and loveliness.
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More SPACE!
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2013? Well, not by choice, but baggy clothes! Nothing fits, in a good way!
31. What kept you sane? My family, especially my kiddos, my friends, working out (it's true, it's stress relieving) and a little bit of relaxation time daily.
32. What political issue stirred you the most? I'm so sick about hearing about the healthcare drama I could puke.
33. Who did you miss? My sister, my grandparents and my great aunt--still true
34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013. Take time to work on yourself is sooo important!
35. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year."Say what you want to say, let the words fall out honestly. I want to see you be Brave!" Brave by Sarah Bareilles

Two Truths and a Lie
Jenny at Dogs Aren't Kids posted this on her blog today, I thought it was fun and she tagged me (well, everyone) so I'm going to do it too!
If you are reading this, you have to do it. I tagged you. Those are the rules.
Tell us 3 things about you and make 1 of them a lie. Try to think about what other bloggers already know about you, what might shock them and what they don’t know and would simply not being able to guess which one is a lie.
Here are mine.
1. I broke my ankle when I was 9, just days before 4th grade started
2. I used to have a job selling jewelry.
3. I appeared in a local commercial when I was a teenager
THE RULES:
Comment below with which one you think is a lie.
Make a new post on your blog and do the same.
After you get a bunch of guesses (or whenever you feel like), make a new post with the right/wrong answers and explain them if you want.

An interview with...ME!
Lisa over at Amateur Nester has started a new blog series called "On the Journey with..." and she just published her interview with ME! I don't pretend to have had the most harrowing infertility journey, but I think every story can be related to, so I was flattered the Lisa was interested in sharing it. Go check it out HERE and follow her blog!

A Ray of Sunshine!
Sweet Teresa at Where the *Bleep* is Our Stork nominated me for the Sunshine Award! The award goes to those writers who's posts brighten the days of fellow bloggers/readers. Aw, I am truly humbled! Thanks Teresa!!! You're awesome!
Here are the rules:
1. Include the Sunshine Award icon in your post.
2. Link to the person who nominated you.
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award
5. Link your nominees and let them know they've been nominated.
Here are Teresa's questions:
1. Shaken or stirred? LOL Well I've never had a martini, but just based on gut reaction, I'll go with stirred. It sounds more gentle than shaken.
2. What is the greatest movie from the past year? Hmm that's hard. Was the Hunger Games in the past year? I think so. I'll go with that. Loved the books.
3. Would you ever consider writing your own book? Well, if you've read my blog, you probably know the answer to that. I can, I have, I am! I actually wrote a pretty complete "novel", a fiction piece of questionable quality lol. I tend to be very dramatic in my writing, very life and death, etc. Anyway it's probably crap and I will probably never do anything with it. However, it's definitely a goal of mine to write something worth trying to get published and I have started an idea for a book of infertility stories. I don't have much time to work on it these days, but it's still something I'm planning on getting back to.
4. Would you rather have a dog's ears or hawks eyes? Hmm good question! Noises tend to distract me and my eyesight is terrible, so I'll say a hawks eyes. :)
5. What is your favorite season and why? Right now! The Fall is my favorite. I love the colors, I love the cool weather, I love how it smells, I just love everything about it!
6. Have you ever hated loving someone? You know what, I don't think so. Even when it hurt, even when I knew I shouldn't, no, I don't think so. I am a strong believer in being true to yourself and your feelings, that feelings are justified. There were times that I knew it wasn't healthy, wasn't best for me to love the person I loved, but I either accepted that and dealt with it, or worked toward moving on.
7. Do you have any strange habits? Yes, doesn't everyone? LOL I'm actually doing mine right now. When I am writing or typing, I have a habit of holding my mouth funny. It's hard to describe, sometimes I'm kind of biting my lip, sometime I'm sort of tucking in my lip. I'm not sure why I do it, but I know I look pretty dopey, so yeah, that's fun.
8. Why do people say laughter is the best medicine? Because if you can laugh, nothing is too bad! Nothing is better than the feeling right after you've laughed so hard your sides ached or your eyes are watering. Sick or hurt, sad or depressed, laughing will make you feel better, make things not seem so bad, even if just for a moment.
9. What do you think is the color for happiness? Happiness...to me, happiness is warm, so I'd say something like a warm yellow or orange, like a sunset or like candlelight.
10. What will you teach your children? (what values, beliefs, hobbies, skills, etc) I hope to teach my kids many things. I want to teach them to be kind and try hard at everything they do. I want to teach them to be respectful and honest. I would love to work with them on any number of hobbies and skills. I'm not very sporty, but I will do my best to teach them the basics and nurture that in them if they choose. I hope to teach them to like to read and learn about new things, to not be afraid to try things, to enjoy music and being outside and oh so many things!
Great questions Teresa!!
Okay, so here are my nominees! Some of these ladies are really in the trenches of infertility. However, they always manage to hold on to hope, or to make me and all of their readers laugh at their ever-present humor, or to find joy in the little things in life. I love reading their blogs, and so many more than are listed here.
1. Rach at A Little Bit More
2. Mrs E. at TTCBabyE3
3. Stacy at Dancing My Way Through Love, Life and Books
4. Tasha at Frozen OJ
5. Hope at A Crack In Everything
6. KelBel at Tales from Our Yellow Brick Road
7. May at Nuts In May
8. Liz at Wishing on a Snowflake
9. Ready for My Turn
10. And I'm going to follow Teresa's lead and leave this spot open for ANYONE! If you read this, consider yourself nominated! Be sure to leave a comment so I can read your answers!
Here are my questions!
1. What is a quote that you live by or one the really resonates with you?
2. What is your favorite word?
3. What word or phrase do you overuse?
4. What is one of your guilty pleasures? It could be a food, a song, a movie, whatever.
5. If your life was a movie, what would it be called and who would play you?
6. You have tomorrow off work and you can do anything! Money is no object! What are you going to do?
7. Your going on a 14 hour flight somewhere. Name three MUST HAVES in your carry-on.
8. What is the one thing you want people to remember about you?
9. You can change your name tomorrow, no hassle. Would you and if so, to what?
10. Fantasy pet (responsibilities, cost, and all realistic things aside)--What would it be and why?
Here are the rules:

Blog Challenge Day 21: TTC Blogger
Tell me about a TTC blog I don't have on my blog roll - why should I go visit?
I would like to recommend Jennifer at It's Jennifer Juniper.
I've only started reading her blog recently, but I am struck most by her honesty. She is new to blogging and new to TTC, but already she's facing the challenges we know so well. She has a twin sister (like me! But they are identical) who suffers from PCOS, so when she started to experience the symptoms after getting of BC, she knew she needed to seek treatment. She's recently started on metformin and clomid. She's married to Mr. Roo, who sounds amazing and she loves doting on her nephew, who is ADORABLE! She writes with such honesty, it's impossible not to want to follow along and see what happens! So go on over there and show her some blog love!
This question originally said no preggies please, but since Mommy Someday is preggo herself now, she asked for reccomendations of other newly preggos, so here's a bonus!
I recommend Amanda at Beloved Burnt Toast . Amanda write a blog I started following a few months ago. She is a pretty amazing lady and you just kind of want to hang out with her! She suffered the devastating loss of her twin girls in April at 8 weeks after conceiving them through FET (frozen embryo transfer). She just found out that she's pregnant again so stop by and send her lots of sticky vibes!
This is part of a June blog challenge started by Mommy Someday at Waiting for Baby. Pop over there and join in so I can learn these things about you!

AW you guys!!! I've been nominated for a Super Sweet Blogging Award by the lovely Jennifer at It's Jennifer Juniper!
Here are the rules:
Thank the blogger who nominated you. Jennifer, thank you so much! You totally made my day! I've been writing here for many years, but I've never established a very large reader-ship, so I'm always tickled to get a comment, much less be nominated for an award like this! You're a total sweetheart! You and Mr. Ru are so adorable and you're going to make amazing parents when your day arrives--I hope it's soon!
Answer 5 super sweet questions
Include the Super Sweet Blogging award image in the blog post
Nominate 12 other bloggers
Super Sweet Questions:
1. Cookies or cake? I have to say cake! It feels so much more SPECIAL to me than a cookie! :)
2. Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate, no contest!
3. Favorite sweet treat? Mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone! YUM!
4. When do you crave sweet things the most? Evenings after dinner--soooo hard to resist! But I am doing better at that! Back on the get-fit track!
5. Sweet nickname? My hubby calls me "Sweet-Thing" sometimes. *blush* In his phone, my contact name is "Zsweet thing" so that I'm last in his contacts and easy to find (since the top is always voicemail, balance, etc)

She writes an awesome blog about her journey, her life, her daughter, etc etc etc! Her story was one of the first I'd read about a journey to motherhood and a struggle with infertility and loss and it's extremely moving.
I know I haven't done justice to these little tidbits on the blogs of these amazing ladies, but they deserve much more than I can give with this little gesture. They are awesome women!!!
